The Texas Mushroom Festival Named a Coca-Cola Green Team Event

Madisonville, TX – September 14, 2006 – The Texas Mushroom Festival, held in Madisonville, Texas, October 20 & 21, has been chosen to participate in the Coca-Cola Green Team's pilot program this fall. The primary objective for this program is to encourage festival participants and visitors to recycle their waste products, and in the process improve the overall experience of the festival for everyone.

By following the “Green Team” guidelines set forth for Keep Texas Beautiful affiliates, Keep Madisonville Beautiful members  expect to leave the downtown area free of litter at the same time they are promoting a message about the benefits of recycling. They aim to reduce costs associated with event clean-up, and reduce landfill disposal costs.

Keep Madisonville Beautiful  members plan to make this event more enjoyable for everyone by creating a cleaner and more beautiful environment for visitors and vendors. In the process they will be increasing awareness of improved waste management, strengthening event-neighbor relations, enhancing event attendance, reducing clean-up costs, and demonstrating environmental leadership.
