Adopt a Spot Program Guidelines
Program Purpose
To provide groups or individuals with the opportunity to show pride in the Madison County community by volunteering to adopt a public area for the purpose of litter reduction and beautification.
Program Guidelines
-
Adopt-A-Spot volunteers must pledge to adopt an area for a minimum of one year. An agreement must be signed by a representative of the group or organization.
-
All volunteers in the Adopt -A-Spot program must sign a waiver holding Madison County harmless from any claim from participation in the Adopt-A-Spot Program.
-
When selecting an adoption area, volunteers should consider the following: type of work required, task frequency, physical demands of tasks, equipment needed to perform tasks, and location of adopted area. Some areas available for adoption may not be suitable for children.
-
Adopt-A-Spot partners must agree to a minimum of four clean-ups per year. Some areas may warrant more frequent clean-ups.
-
Areas adopted by youth groups consisting of persons under 18 years of age will be required to have a minimum of one adult chaperone for every 10 youths involved in the adoption. A parental signature is required on the waiver form for participants under 18 years of age.
-
Use safety vests as needed.
-
A sign announcing the adoption of your spot will be placed and remain at your spot throughout your pledged adoption period.
-
Volunteers are expected to keep records of clean up dates, number of volunteers involved and how many bags of litter were collected. Forms for this purpose may be picked up at the Madison County Chamber of Commerce, or you may download them using the links provided at the top of this page.
