Adopt a County Mile Program
This program recognizes the need and desirability of litter-free highways and county roads. It allows for group participation through an agreement with Keep Madison County Beautiful to maintain litter-free highways and county roads.
Groups pledge to adopt a county mile in which to collect litter a minimum of four times per year. Keep Madison County Beautiful will erect a sign at one end of the adopted section with the group's name or acronym displayed.

Warren’s Welding in Midway Adopts a County Mile
Midway business owners, Charles and Jamie Warren, have accepted the Keep Madison County Beautiful challenge to make our county a better place for everyone through our efforts to keep it clean. The Warrens are owners of Warren’s Welding, and the stretch of road they have adopted is a stretch of Burns Road between FM 3060 and HWY 21. Pictured at right are (L to R): Jamie Warren and Charles Warren, along with KMCB members, Kay Welch, Rae Kubiak, and Alene Owens.
When the Warrens contacted KMCB with their desire to participate in the Adopt a County Mile program, they expressed their concern with the illegal dumping along their road. At first glance, Burns Road appears to be the sort of country road people imagine as the ideal, but if you slow down and look closer, you’ll see the discarded household appliances, ammunition, children’s toys, and other non-biodegradable rubbish that have been covered by the new Spring foliage.
